About the Project :
The Population Foundation of India (PFI) is awarded by the USAID to implement a four year program on “Health of the Urban Poor” ending on September’2013. The goal of the program is to improve the health status of the urban poor in the urban locations by adopting effective and efficient sustainable strategic intervention approaches adopting the principle of convergence of the various development programs.
PFI wishes to recruit the position at National Level.
Job Summary
This position will provide support to National and State Govt. to review and analyze all Govt. policies / schemes related to Urban Health through Health of the Urban Poor Program.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Analysis of financial data, work on methodological issues and quantitative analysis.
• Research and analysis of a variety of specific fiscal, governance, public administration and economic topics and issues of policy.
• Economic analysis of different health delivery models and identification of various cost effective models (national and global)
• Working on developing financial reports involving the analysis, econometric modeling, evaluation and preparation of data.
• Work independently, seeking guidance and instruction on new, unusual or complex assignments.
• Travel to states and urban cities including demonstration cities of HUP for collection of primary data/survey as and when required.
• Work experience in a research institution or organizations in the development field.
• Any other work as per the need
Qualification and Experience:
• Masters degree in economics or econometrics /MBBS, MD in Community Medicine with more than 5 years experience in health and sufficient exposure to health –economics
• Comprehensive understanding on issues and challenges in urban health, government system at national, state and district as well as the city level.
• Training in economic analysis, econometrics, programming models and other tools is desirable or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of Govt. spending in the social Sector and experience in dealing with Sr. Govt. Officials
• Effective written and spoken communication skills.
• Should be a self starter, highly motivated and adaptable.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively function as a member of a multi disciplinary team.
• Computer proficiency in spreadsheet analysis and/or data analysis.
• Excellent analytical skills
• Good record of publications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal and team work skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills.
• Effective analytical and presentation skills.
